FRAME GRABBER
Autonomous operation
of vehicle cameras
A frame grabber can record video signals from your preferred automotive video link. This makes a frame grabber the ideal test device for the video outputs of your cameras. Recording and control is simple via USB. All common color formats such as RGB, YUV and RAW are supported.
With our frame grabber, you can put your camera into operation and add it to your test environment without additional devices or drivers.
Our frame grabber product range offers a wide selection of different automotive video links and automotive video cables, such as GMSL and FPD-Link, each with common connectors such as FAKRA and Rosenberger HSD.
We will be pleased to realize other technologies and connectors individually for you on request.
All our frame grabbers enable true plug-and-play: up to 100 customer-specific configurations for different camera types and test settings can be used with a single frame grabber. As soon as a camera is connected that corresponds to the current setting, the camera and the AVL are configured so that your video device can be used to its full extent immediately.
Our frame grabbers are the ideal solution for vehicle cameras up to 3 MPixel resolution at 30Hz frame rate. Cameras with higher resolutions can also be used with our frame grabbers, although the frame rate is reduced. We recommend our SPU (Signal Processing Unit) for the use of high-resolution 5/8 MPixel cameras at 30/60Hz frame rate.
Incidentally, our frame grabber can also be used to record ECU outputs. Here we support a video bandwidth of up to 2.4 Gbit.

Applications
- Laboratory tests and measurements of parameters such as contrast, picture detail and dynamic range, etc.
- Hardware and software development with the camera directly at the workstation
- Calibration of camera lenses
- Verification of specifications according to the vehicle manufacturer
- Environmental tests (resistance/function at heat shock, cold, UV radiation, etc.)
- Hardware-in-the-loop tests (long-term tests)
- End-of-line tests
- Test and trial runs
Functions
Our frame grabbers offer a quick and easy way to visualize and record video signals from a vehicle camera on a PC. At the same time, they have many practical additional functions and numerous connection options for further test tools.
Power over Coax
The frame grabber can provide the required voltage for cameras that are supplied with power via the automotive video cable.
Settings Selector
A rotary switch can be used to switch between different configurations for different cameras. Up to 100 customer-specific configurations can be stored and updated or replaced with new ones as required.
Remote Control
Remote switching of the settings is also possible via the USB port, e.g. for automated end-of-line tests with different cameras.
Control Channel Master
Registry entries can also be read and set during operation via the built-in USB Control Channel Master. As a result, no additional tools are required for this task.
Camera Initialization
The complete initialization (serializer and imager) for a camera can be stored in the internal memory in one setting. This allows direct plug and play – even for cameras without an ISP (Integrated Signal Processor).
Color Spaces
Our frame grabbers can process all common color spaces – so it doesn’t matter whether the connected camera is an RGB, YUV or RAW camera.
TZ Viewer
With our TZ Viewer, our frame grabbers come with practical software that can be used to quickly and easily process and display video streams, create snapshots or save videos.
TZ GUI Software
For all our current products, our TZ GUI provides you with powerful and user-friendly software that allows you to configure new components and test tasks quickly and easily. We create and store the optimum settings for your device. As a result, you can expect genuine plug-and-play, saving you time and allowing you to start working immediately.
Status LEDs
Status LEDs for the most important functions indicate the respective operating status and allow quick identification of possible error sources.
Extensive Interfaces
Additional external sockets can be used to connect further tools and test devices, e.g. to read out the configuration of the imager via the I2C interface.
